Twittering at collaborate|2008

TwitterThis year we’ll be trying something new to help with collaboration on and offline. Thanks to Paul Webster’s prompt- (@watfordgap)and this experience of Tim Davies at a recent conference for getting instant feedback.

It’s called Twitter and (if you’re already on Twitter just go ahead and follow @collaborate2008 ). It’s a combination of micro-blogging (a limit of a text message of 140 characters), quick conversations, shouts for help and floating of ideas either via the web, your desktop or mobile phone - but there is a short video that explains it all at the bottom of this post.

If not you’re not on Twitter, you can join in using your mobile phone in 2 easy steps.

  1. Send a text message to 07624 801423 with the message ‘follow collaborate2008′
    You will get a message back saying:

    Hi! Please confirm by replying with your name. Std rates apply. ‘Stop’ to quit.

  2. Reply to this message with a username (eg joebloggs )
    You’ll receive a message confirming you are now following @collaborate2008 like this:

    You’ll receive a message every time collaborate2008 updates. To silence, send ‘off collaborate2008′. For more commands send ‘help’

You’ll be able to:

Collaborate tweet

  • Receive quick messages about the event
  • Ask questions in the sessions by sending a text message starting @collaborate2008 at 07624 801423 to which will be shared with everyone else at http://twitter.com/collaborate2008
  • Find out who else is ‘Twittering’ and carry on the conversation in and out of the sessions
  • Join in with others worldwide following the event on Twitter

We’ll be able to

  • Sort out your taxi (we can send private ‘direct’ messages that aren’t shared on the Twitter website)
  • Tell you what’s happening next and where to go
  • Help connect you with othes at the event via Twitter

If you want to stop receiving updates from Twitter the send a text message with ‘off collaborate2008′ to 07624 801423
