The presentation covers the fundamental differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 applications, and the central role of search engines as a rich searchable data repository.

Taging and categorising information is a fundamental way of reminding yourself and telling other people what is interesting and relevant to you. When tags and categorised publicly, using social bookmarking sites or blogging, their visibility is dramatically improved and is a great way to collaborate and find out what others are thinking and doing.

During the presentation, a number of social tagging websites were mentioned. These included:

You can set up your own account on these sites at no cost, and use them to store bookmarks and - most importantly - tag them yourself. Some of them allow you to bookmark a current browser pages though another Bookmark link or even a browser add-on.
